A memorial scholarship can give a talented student the opportunity to continue their schooling or higher degree while recognising someone or something deeply important to you.
We work closely with you to define the scholarship's criteria, budget, and geographic focus. Every recipient is verified in person by two independent field volunteers. Funds are paid directly to educational institutions, and we provide you with complete academic marksheets and annual progress reports.
All contributions qualify for 50% tax deductions under Section 80G of the Indian Income-tax Act. Official receipts are issued promptly upon receipt.

What is the minimum contribution to start a scholarship?
The standard minimum contribution is ₹25,000 to ₹50,000 per year, which covers full schooling or college fees for one scholar. Donors can also fund multiple students or establish an endowment fund.
Can I set specific criteria for who receives the scholarship?
Yes. You can specify criteria such as supporting only female students, children of single mothers, orphans, students pursuing science or law, or students from a particular hometown.
How does Aaghaz select and verify the students?
We receive thousands of applications annually. Every shortlisted candidate is visited at their home by two independent volunteers who verify living circumstances, income, and academic records before approval.
What updates will I receive as a donor?
Donors receive annual progress packets containing the student's semester marksheets, fee receipts stamped by the educational institution, a certificate of achievement, and a personal note from the student.

There was a time when completing my law degree seemed very difficult because I simply did not have the financial means. I received support throughout my five-year course, including a monthly stipend, and even help with medical treatment when I fell ill. I was able to finish my studies and become an advocate. It was a dream I had worked towards for years, and today I am living it.
Becoming a doctor was my dream, but getting through medical college required far more than ambition. I received support throughout my MBBS for college and hostel fees, books and even my monthly expenses. That meant I could concentrate on my studies instead of constantly worrying about how the next fee would be paid. Today, I am a doctor working in paediatric surgery at Medical College Kolkata.
